Access to services is granted through a series of transnational (physical, remote, and hybrid) or virtual access calls. Applications for access are submitted through an online platform when the call is opened. These calls will support high-impact research addressing key topics such as ecosystem resilience, climate-driven health risks, water management, and food systems.

IRISCC provides sponsored access to cutting-edge climate research services, facilities, and data through Transnational (physical, remote, and hybrid) and Virtual Access.
We are launching a series of Open Calls between 2025 and 2028 (see the timeline below). These calls are your chance to collaborate with top-tier European research infrastructures. When the call is opened, applications for access are submitted through an online platform.
First General Call
📆 Opens: 28 April 2025 (TBC)
📆 Closes: 30 June 2025
📍 Scope: General (non-thematic)
Fast-Track Call (for Emergencies and Ukrainian Researchers)
🕒 Open Continuously (2025–2028)
📍 For rapid-response projects or researchers affected by climate emergencies.
🗓️ Future calls will follow—stay tuned!
IRISCC is open to researchers, policymakers, and professionals across various sectors, including academia and industry. Whether you’re addressing climate risks, vulnerabilities, or conducting research in related fields, IRISCC provides access to cutting-edge services and facilities.
Check Eligibility – Make sure you meet the criteria:
-
Transnationality: Applicants must be from a country other than the one hosting the research facility or service. The only exceptions are for users from European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs), international organizations, or the EU Joint Research Centre.
-
Horizon Europe Criteria: All applicants must comply with the Horizon Europe eligibility requirements, which include transnationality and dissemination of research results.
-
Fast-Track Call: Ukrainian researchers affected by climate-related emergencies are eligible for expedited access through the Fast-Track Call.
-
Dissemination Requirement: Except for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), users must commit to disseminating the knowledge and results generated through their research.

Fill in the post-access report
Yes, you can apply for multiple services or facilities. In fact, if your proposal includes multiple services or facilities from different infrastructures, you will automatically receive bonus points during the evaluation.
Transnational Access allows eligible users to access cutting-edge research installations and services in a country different from their own, with some exceptions for ERIC infrastructures.
You can access services in three different ways:
-
🔬 Physical Access: You travel to the hosting facility and work onsite with their team. This is ideal for hands-on experiments, specialized equipment use, or training.
-
🖥️ Remote Access: You send your samples, data, or specific instructions to the facility, and the host team carries out the work on your behalf. You receive the results, data, or processed materials remotely.
-
🔄 Hybrid Access: A combination of physical and remote access — for example, part of your project is done onsite during a short visit, while other parts are handled remotely before or after your stay.
TA includes scientific and technical support, and IRISCC will partly reimburse travel and subsistence expenses (up to €2000 per accepted proposal).
You can:
-
Visit installations to run experiments or collect data
-
Collaborate onsite with experts
-
Get support for planning, logistics, and technical implementation
TA includes partial reimbursement for travel and subsistence costs (up to €2000 per proposal).
VA gives you access to online services and data, without the need to travel. This might include:
-
Downloadable datasets and models
-
Remote data processing tools
-
Online platforms or simulations
-
Training and support materials
VA is ideal for users who want to benefit from IRISCC services entirely online.
