You can reach the Viikki campus from the Helsinki city Center or from the airport by public transport. The Helsinki region (HSL) has an integrated public transport ticket system. HSL tickets can be used for traveling on buses, trams, the Metro and commuter trains. You can also transfer from one vehicle to another with the same ticket.

You can visit the Journey Planner website to figure out how to get from point A to point B in the Helsinki region area or download the HSL app. The app also allows you to buy single or day tickets conveniently paying with your debit/credit card. The HSL app is available on apps stores. Note that ticket needs to be bought in advance either from a service desk, ticket machine or via the app.

Local trains I and P operate between Helsinki Airport and the city centre on the Ring Rail Line every 10–20 minutes. The journey takes 30 minutes. A regional ABC ticket is required.

Buses operate throughout the region. Bus 600 runs between the airport and the Central Railway Station and takes around 40 minutes. A regional ABC ticket can be purchased from a ticket machine or via HSL mobile app. Bus 415N operates at night.

There are plenty of accommodation options around Helsinki. However, not at the Viikki campus area. We recommend staying near the Central Railway station for easy transportation to Viikki.

For example, there are several Scandic hotels in the city center and IRISCC KoM participants can get a room with special discounted prices. The code provided below applies for all the Scandic hotels in Helsinki. Especially the following hotels are with good connections to the Viikki campus: Scandic Kaisaniemi, Scandic Hakaniemi, Scandic Paasi and Scandic Grand Central Helsinki. Rooms are subject to availability and should be booked 10 days before arrival at the latest.
