IRISCC at EGU General Assembly 2025

The EGU General Assembly 2025 brings together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.

IRISCC will contribute the ENVRI Lunch talk programme on Monday, 28 April | 13:15–13:25 with the “Navigating Climate Risks: How to Discover and Access IRISCC Services” By Päivi Haapanala; A live demonstration on how users can explore and apply for access to IRISCC’s integrated climate risk research services.

Town Hall Meeting – Discover How to Access World-Class Research Facilities

28th April 2025, 19:00-20:00, ACV Center Room: N1

Session Title: How to Get Access to World-Class Facilities, Tools, and Data with Transnational and Virtual Access

IRISCC invites you to a Town Hall meeting where we will explore how Transnational Access (TA) and Virtual Access (VA) can unlock exciting research opportunities for geoscientists.

Ready to elevate your research? Join us at EGU 2025 for an interactive Town Hall session hosted by the IRISCC project, where you’ll discover how Transnational Access (TA) and Virtual Access (VA) can unlock free, cutting-edge resources for geoscience research. Learn how to access world-class facilities, datasets, and tools—on-site or remotely—and hear real success stories from researchers who’ve used these opportunities to push scientific boundaries. Whether you’re in the lab or in the field, this session will guide you through the access process, funding options, and collaborative potential across Europe’s top research infrastructures.

Agenda

19:00-19:05: Welcome and Introduction to the session; Magdalena Brus (EGI Foundation)

19:05-19:15: Understanding Transnational Access (TA) and Virtual Access (VA); Rosa Petracca (CNR)

19:15-19:20: Service Offerings from IRISCC; Janne Rinne (Luke)

19:20-19:25: Opportunities for Geoscientists: Open Calls, Päivi Haapanala (Luke)

IRISCC Co-organised Training Session

Thu, 01 May, 19:00–20:00 (CEST) Room -2.82

Interoperability between datasets with regards to their different levels

Co-organized by ESSI2
Convener: Beñat Olascoaga | Co-convener: Allan Souza
Interdisciplinarity is becoming a common approach to solve socio-ecological problems, but datasets from different disciplines often lack interoperability. In this SC we will explore interoperability levels in the context of integrated research infrastructure services for the climate change crisis.

IRISCC’s Contribution to EGU 2025 Sessions

IRISCC is proud to contribute to the ITS3.11/ERE6.3 session, focusing on the role of integrated research infrastructures in shaping the future of environmental science.

Session Title: Advancing Environmental Science through Integrated Research Infrastructures
Conveners: Anna Santoro, Gustavo Naumann, Quertenmont Pierre, Elena Garbarino
