An international conference for advancing our understanding of ecosystems within a pan-European network of sites, platforms, researchers, and stakeholders to facilitate collaborative, inter- and transdisciplinary science including biogeoscience, biodiversity research, and social ecology.
1st eLTER Science Conference

The 1st eLTER Science conference will take place on June 23-27, 2025 in Tampere, Finland.
The event will be hosted by the University of Helsinki, and we anticipate over 300 international participants.
IRISCC will organise there a Workshop on "Co-designing future services and next steps in carbon farming" on Thursday, June 26th, 2025 at 11 EEST. The WS will follow the same structure as our highly successful WS-organised during the EU Carbon Farming Summit in Dublin. We will share more information soon.
Scientific sessions will span from Unraveling the mysterious role of groundwater in ecosystem dynamics to Ecosystem restoration, Novel technologies in environmental monitoring, and Integrated observations in the atmosphere-biosphere continuum. Policy-relevant sessions include, for example, carbon farming and studying the sustainability of globally embedded socio-ecological systems.
Prominent Keynote speakers will present inspiring talks, and the participants will have the opportunity to give either oral or poster presentations. The Conference will also feature a number of interactive workshops on data, the arts, co-design of services, etc.
Last but not least, guided excursions to four interesting sites will be arranged (including Hyytiälä SMEAR II LTER Site, Lammi LTER Site, Seitseminen National Park, and Tammela peatland restoration site).
